ATOC CYCLING INTEGRATION WITH RAIL AWARD

Merseyrail are entering Ormskirk station into the ATOC Awards in the category of Cycling Integration with Rail

The station has recently had a secure cycle cage installed allowing safe storage of passengers cycles. Inspector Gary Jones of the British Transport Police says;

‘The Go Cycle scheme provides a safe environment for train users to leave their bicycles at train stations as part of their daily commute. The bike cages have been quality assured by British Transport Police crime reduction officers – as well as being extremely secure they are monitored by CCTV. Since their implementation on the Merseyrail Network not a single bicycle housed within them has been stolen or damaged. Speaking as a user of these facilities I can say with confidence that they really encourage me to use my bicycle as part of my journey. It is noteworthy that being free of charge they are a fully inclusive facility which promotes diverse usage from eclectic members of the community’
